Yeoncheon County Governor Kim Deok-hyeon presented a blueprint for revitalizing the local economy. On the 10th, Yeoncheon County Mayor Kim Deok-hyeon presented a blueprint to revitalize the local economy by actively highlighting the advantage of being the only second home special area in Gyeonggi Province.
County Governor Kim Deok-hyeon appeared on Inside Gyeongin and Newsin held at the KBS Gyeongin Broadcasting Center located in Suwon, and said, “Yeoncheon-gun has a natural environment and an excellent transportation network, including metropolitan subway line 1, so it has a distinct difference from other regions,” and “I plan to retire.” It is the best place for middle-aged people to realize their dream of enjoying life in the countryside. “In the future, we plan to build a housing complex for the baby boomer generation in an optimal location near the Imjin River and Hantangang River.”
Previously, Yeoncheon-gun was the only one among 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggi-do to be included in the second home special area announced by the Ministry of Strategy and Finance. The second home special exception is a policy that recognizes a homeowner as ‘one homeowner per household’ even if he or she acquires one additional home in Yeoncheon-gun. Even if a homeowner in the metropolitan area purchases a home in Yeoncheon-gun, a special second home area, he or she is recognized as a single homeowner and can receive benefits such as transfer tax, comprehensive real estate tax, and property tax.
County Governor Kim said, “The inclusion of Yeoncheon-gun in the second home special area is the result of our county’s constant voice.” He added, “We are raising our voices so that the government’s various policies for local governments with declining populations in border areas, including the second home policy, can continue.” “I will,” he said.
In addition, Governor Kim emphasized that he will focus on building infrastructure as accessibility to Seoul has increased with the opening of Seoul Metropolitan Subway Line 1, while also taking preemptive actions to designate special opportunity development zones and special education development zones.
County Governor Kim said, “Yeoncheon-gun has been living in the dark for the past 70 years due to overlapping regulations such as the Military Facilities Protection Zone and the Seoul Metropolitan Area Readjustment Planning Act,” and added, “We will focus our administrative power to designate a special zone, which is the first step toward Yeoncheon’s future.”
In addition, Governor Kim announced a plan to proceed without a hitch with the construction of the largest pet theme park in the metropolitan area and the northern campus of the Gyeonggi Province Fire Academy, which is being promoted with the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
County Governor Kim said, “The pet theme park is approximately 120,000 square meters in the Gunnam-myeon area and consists of various facilities such as caravans, glamping, and a dog playground. “A pet memorial hall will also be built with an area of approximately 40,000 m2,” he explained. “We will promote the project so that it can be reborn as a ‘healing space’ where pet owners can relax and enjoy themselves with their pets.”
Lastly, Governor Kim said, “There is an African proverb that says, ‘If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.’ Yeoncheon-gun’s development cannot be achieved alone. “For the development of the region, we will do our best to create a better Yeoncheon tomorrow by joining forces with all residents.”
