The Yeoncheon-gun Geopark Interpretation Society conducted volunteer work to spread warm hearts. Yeoncheon-gun announced that the Geopark Interpretation Society (Chairman Song Jung-seop) carried out briquette delivery service and environmental cleanup activities at geological attractions.
The briquette delivery service was held on December 27th, and in this service, 33 members of the Geopark Interpretation Society gathered and donated a total of 1.44 million won. With this donation, briquettes were donated to the briquette bank and directly delivered, and 1,600 briquettes were delivered with warm hearts to 6 households in Jeongok-eup and Cheongsan-myeon who needed help.
In addition, on December 16, the Geopark Interpretation Society contributed to the environmental cleanup of Jaein Falls by carrying out environmental cleanup activities for geological attractions. Environmental cleanup activities are carried out regularly every year and are carried out through the voluntary participation of members.
Regarding the environmental cleanup activities, Song Jung-seop, Chairman of the Geopark Interpretation Society, said, “Environmental cleanup activities are an important activity that reminds us of the basic duties of interpreters, and we plan to continue volunteer work to contribute to and share with society in the region.”
Meanwhile, Yeoncheon-gun held a performance report on the small living area revitalization project at the Cheongsan-myeon Resident Autonomy Center on the 30th.
The performance report meeting on this day was prepared to share the results of the small living area revitalization project that has been promoted in Cheongsan-myeon from 2022 and to seek regional development with Cheongsan-myeon residents.
About 80 people, including residents of Cheongsan-myeon and public officials, attended the briefing session, and the Resident Planning Group, comprised of residents of Cheongsan-myeon, directly identified local agendas based on resident capacity training and took time to look back on the projects promoted to resolve them.
Major achievements include the maintenance of Nakseon County Tomb, a local cultural asset, the production of a story map that tells the story of various attractions in Cheongsan-myeon in an interesting way, the residents’ exhibition ‘I Will Live in Cheongsan’, which displays objects and paintings containing local memories and unique storytelling, and our beautiful village. Village gardening for construction purposes was introduced.

The small living area revitalization project is a public offering project targeted at areas with declining populations by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and Yeoncheon-gun has set the goal of ‘One The Cheongsan (Wonder Cheongsan)’ to promote regional vitality targeting Cheongsan-myeon for three years from 2022. Various regional revitalization projects were promoted, including strengthening residents’ capabilities, establishing cooperative governance between residents and administration, and promoting projects to resolve local agendas.
