Yeonggwang-gun has embarked on a journey to heal and take care of its health through horseback riding. Yeonggwang-gun is operating a horseback riding center to promote the health and welfare of its citizens.

Yeonggwang Riding Club, located in Jindeok-ri, Hongnong-eup, is the first public riding club directly managed by a local government in Jeollanam-do. It has a total land area of 24,744㎡ and a facility area of 14,338㎡, and is equipped with facilities such as a riding club, stable, pasture, and training center, as well as five riding instructors who have completed professional horse training. With its systematic training program and high-quality riding lessons, it is visited by about 2,000 users every year, and the number is increasing year by year.

Currently, Yeonggwang Equestrian Center is operating various horseback riding experience programs. It is conducting horseback riding lessons through one-day experience tickets and memberships, and is also implementing three support projects: ‘Student Horseback Riding’, ‘Healing Horseback Riding’, and ‘Youth Equestrian Club’. ‘Student Horseback Riding’ is for elementary, middle, and high school students, and ‘Healing Horseback Riding’ is for public service workers, vulnerable groups, and general adults. It is a project that supports the tuition costs of participants selected through application. ‘Youth Equestrian Club’ is a project that supports the costs necessary for training horseback riding athletes for elementary and middle school children with certain qualifications, and through this, a youth equestrian club member achieved the results of winning first place in the obstacles (90cm) and third place in dressage at the Jeonnam Youth Sports Festival last year.

Horseback riding is a sport that is beneficial to modern people in many ways. It stimulates the core muscles, so it helps correct body shape and relieve lumbar disc herniation. It is also an exercise where the feet do not touch the ground, so it can prevent arthritis. In addition, it is very effective for dieting because it burns twice as many calories as swimming.

Mr. A (57 years old, Baeksu-eup), who visited Yeonggwang Riding Club, said, “I came to Yeonggwang Riding Club because I was curious after seeing horseback riding experiences abroad. While riding, I learned a lot about posture correction and core muscle development. I hope Yeonggwang Riding Club will develop further in the future and become a tourist attraction that not only Yeonggwang residents but also people from other regions can visit.” He did not spare his praise for Yeonggwang Riding Club.

A military official said, “If you visit Yeonggwang Riding Club, anyone can easily and familiarly experience the unfamiliar sport of horseback riding, so we ask for your interest and use.” For more information about horseback riding experiences, contact the Forest Park or Yeonggwang Riding Club.
