Yeonggwang-gun is restarting to relieve e-mobility regulations. Yeonggwang-gun (Acting County Governor, Deputy County Governor Kim Jeong-seop) announced that the ‘small e-mobility regulation special zone’ was selected in the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ 2024 regulation-free special zone candidate special zone contest, providing an opportunity for Yeonggwang companies to advance into overseas markets and expand exports.

The selection of this candidate special zone is a feat achieved after the ‘e-mobility regulation-free special zone’ was designated in 2019 and operated for 5 years until 2023. In the previous e-mobility regulation-free special zone, six regulations impeding industrial development were resolved, such as allowing electric bicycles to ride on bicycle roads, easing electric bicycle motor output restrictions, and easing regulations on the loading capacity of agricultural power carriers, and attracting investment from e-mobility companies, etc. achieved excellent results.

Jeonnam Province and Yeonggwang-gun will continue to achieve the results of the ‘e-mobility regulation-free special zone (2019-2023)’, and will help to recover the domestic market, which is suffering from a recession due to the chasm phenomenon caused by COVID-19, the global economic downturn, and the explosion of electric vehicles, and the overseas expansion of Yeonggwang companies. We participated in this contest to expand exports.

The ‘Small e-Mobility Regulation-Free Special Zone’, designated as this candidate special zone, is a core project to resolve the difficulties faced by companies by resolving e-mobility regulations. Yeonggwang-gun plans to create an e-mobility industry ecosystem by 2030 by establishing a future industrial ecosystem, including upgrading the industrial ecosystem and establishing a future vehicle industry base, together with Jeonnam Province and related organizations such as the Korea Automobile Research Institute and the Korea Smart E-Mobility Association.

Kim Jeong-seop, acting mayor of Yeonggwang-gun, said, “The promotion of this small e-mobility regulatory special zone was planned to reflect all the regulations that e-mobility companies are experiencing,” and added, “We will thoroughly prepare for the main public offering to be held in the first half of next year, and Yeonggwang mobility company “We will do our best to provide an opportunity for them to leap forward once again.”
