A Familiar Sight

The launch, originating from Vandenberg Space Force Base in Santa Barbara County, sent the rocket carrying 26 Starlink satellites into orbit. The Falcon 9 lifted off at 8:36 p.m., reaching low Earth orbit about 8½ minutes later.

The mission marked the third flight of the mission’s first stage booster. Following separation, it was planned to land on the “Of Course I Still Love You” drone ship in the Pacific Ocean.

SpaceX is known for its visually striking vapor trails. Earlier in the region, residents reported a loud sonic boom from a SpaceX cargo vessel.
