Veteran actress Asha Parekh, who has been working in the film industry for over 70 years, recently had a candid conversation with Arbaaz Khan. In an episode of the second season of the series ‘The Invincibles’, she spoke about her marriage to Shammi Kapoor and the long-running rumours about her strained relationship with Shatrughan Sinha. Reflecting on her career, Asha Parekh recalled the era when actresses used to enjoy alcohol. She also mentioned an incident where her eyes became so red after drinking alcohol that she refused to shoot the next day. After the 1981 film ‘Kalia’, Asha Parekh reduced her work and eventually stopped acting in films. She turned to television, directed the Gujarati serial ‘Jyoti’ and has produced shows like ‘Palash Ke Phool’, ‘Baaje Payal’, ‘Kora Kaagaz’ and ‘Daal Mein Kaala’ under her production company Akruti. In 2008, she was a judge in the reality show ‘Tyohaar Dhamaka’.

Asha recalled, ‘I did my first film with Shammi Kapoor ji, he is my favourite. I used to be very shy to face the camera. In my first few shots with Shammi chacha, I was very nervous. He was very patient with me and guided me in every shot. He especially taught me how to lip sync and emote in songs. It was not difficult for us to act, I used to call him uncle outside the film and when we used to shoot, we were professional actors. So we did not face any problem.’
