Gautam Gambhir has made a good start as India’s coach. He brought success to the team in the first assignment in the T20 series against Sri Lanka. Won the series 3-0. However, his one-time teammate Yoginder Sharma is seeing Gambhir’s end as a coach.

Gambhir has signed a contract with India till 2027 ODI World Cup. If all goes well, India will play another World Cup under his coaching. However, Joginder feels that Gambhir will not be able to last long as the head coach.

Yoginder is currently serving as a police officer. In an interview given on a YouTube channel, Yoginder said, ‘Gautam Gambhir is in charge of managing the Indian team. But I think, he will not be able to last long in this responsibility.’

Why can not survive? Yoginder, who led India to the T20 World Cup final in 2007, also explained that, ‘He (Gambir) has his own personality, likes to take his own decisions. It may be that his decision will not be liked by the cricketers. I have seen many times, his decisions are those which others do not like.’

However, this former Indian also praised Gambhir’s directness, ‘Gambir is a straight talker. He is not a go-getter, nor will he flatter anyone. We like him and give him credit for that. He does his work with dedication and integrity.’
Both Gambhir and Yoginder were members of India’s 2007 T20 World Cup winning team. Yoginder’s international career spanned only 8 matches but is remembered for his match-winning wicket in the last over of the 2007 World Cup final.

Navish Gambhir as a coach. But quite successful as a consultant. He played playoffs for Lucknow Super Giants in 2021 and 2022 IPL. Won the title in 2023 as a mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders. The Board of Cricket in India (BCCI) gave him the job of coach based on his IPL performance.
