Yokneam with a love for the environment - Apollo Power has won an award for technological innovation

Apollo Power from Yokneam won the Technology Innovation Award for a solar roof project carried out in collaboration with Audi and supplier Mubea Carbo Tech

The company was selected in the “Pallets for the Automotive Industry” category in the 2022 Composite Materials Industry Competition. The competition was organized by the JEC Group and included more than 200 companies from around the world.

The JEC Composites Innovation Awards have been presented annually for the past 20 years to innovative and groundbreaking companies in the composites industry

The project that won Apollo Power first place combines the company’s lightweight and flexible solar sheets within the materials that make up the roofs of Audi vehicles.

The Apollo Power solar roof is not only lightweight compared to another solar roof (50% less than a standard glass roof), but also meets vehicle quality standards.

The technology developed by Apollo Power enables the integration of the solar sheet in car parts made from durable materials, which is expected to significantly reduce the carbon footprint.

Another advantage of the unique technology developed by Apollo Power lies in its ability to realize it in three-dimensional forms, which makes it possible to integrate the solar sheet in other industries (for example, the space and railway industry) and various components.

In March 2022 Audi announced that its € 190,000 annual work content would include improving and improving the quality of solar roofs, improving existing manufacturing processes, developing new manufacturing processes and conducting laboratory tests.

In parallel with winning the Innovation Award, Apollo Power and Audi are negotiating a framework agreement.

Oded Rosenberg, CEO of Apollo Power, said the company he heads is proud to receive international recognition.

Dr. Yom Tov Samia, Chairman of the Apollo Power Board of Directors said that winning is a prestigious and important step on the way to international recognition of Apollo Power technology, so that the Apollo Power company is becoming a leading player in the global arena.
