The Second Vice President of the Government and leader of Sumar, Yolanda Díazhas opted this Saturday to create, immediately, “an observatory of business margins, to link salary increases to the benefits of these companies” in Spain.

On his second consecutive day of campaigning for Catalan lands, Díaz has participated in an act in the Barcelona district of Nou Barris, together with the mayoress of Barcelona, Ada Colau, whom he will accompany on another two days before the 28M elections. In his speech, Díaz celebrated the agreement signed by the CC OO and UGT unions and the CEOE-Cepyme employers’ association for employment and collective bargaining, which establishes a wage increase of 4% in 2023 and 3% in 2024 and 2025 , as well as a revision clause of 1% based on inflation. But despite being “very happy because the social agents have reached an agreement to revalue wages”, she has affirmed that “something more” must be done, because the moment is “exceptional” and the Bank of Spain itself, in its latest report , “he says again that business margins have multiplied by seven compared to salary income”.

For this reason, it has defended the implementation of a “observatory to find out how much they earn, how they do it and how many dividends are distributed” those companies and “directly link the salary increase to that observatory”for what, “if your benefits grow a lot, wages grow in the same proportion”.

Faced with the housing problem, Díaz sees it necessary that “the banks, which have absolutely gross profits of 32,000 million euros, commit to their country, suspend the revaluation of mortgage payments and reduce interest rates by one point, to that people can live with dignity”. “We are obliged to tell the banks that they have to tighten their belts, and not the people of this town,” he stressed.
