The Vice President of the Government and acting Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz, has announced that the team she leads, Sumar, has filed a new complaint with the Higher Sports Council (CSD) on the grounds that the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) under the presidency of Luis Rubiales breaches the law on parity.

In statements to TVE, Díaz has warned that the law is clear in establishing that all bodies have to be equal. For this reason, his formation has demanded that the RFEF Board of Directors be convened on an extraordinary basis so that it is dissolved immediately and a new one that complies with the parity established in article 47.7 of Law 39/2022 is appointed.

However, as denounced from Sumar, “the disproportion between women and men is not limited to the Board of Directors, but reaches all the federative bodies”, which reflects, in their opinion, “a pathology that cannot be considered punctual or circumstantial but systemic”. Specifically, “currently, there are only 38 female members out of 411, that is, 9 percent of the workforce, thus breaching the legal framework,” says the formation,

For all these reasons, Díaz has assured that the objective of this new complaint is to “correct” this violation of the law, and to urge a renewal of the bodies to comply with the regulations, in order to achieve parity in each and every one of they.

“Parity is key to fight against sexist violence” and against “this structural machismo” in the sports world, he insisted.
