President Yoon Seok-yeol congratulated the men’s and women’s team archery teams that won gold medals at the Paris Olympics on the 30th, saying, “This is a great achievement that fully demonstrated the powerhouse of archery, with the No. 1 team in the Republic of Korea being No. 1 in the world.”
President Yoon said this during a Cabinet meeting this morning, saying, “The national team participating in the Olympics is reporting victorious news every day.”
President Yoon encouraged the team by calling out their names one by one, saying, “Following the great feat of Jeon Hun-young, Nam Su-hyun, and Im Si-hyun achieving 10 consecutive Olympic gold medals in the women’s team archery event, last night in the men’s team archery event, Kim Woo-jin, Lee Woo-seok, and Kim Je-deok achieved a third consecutive Olympic gold medal.”
He also said, “There was a teenage sensation in shooting,” and “Following 19-year-old Oh Ye-jin’s gold medal, 17-year-old high school student Ban Hyo-jin won the 100th gold medal in Olympic history.”
President Yoon then mentioned Oh Sang-wook, the first Asian athlete to achieve a fencing grand slam, along with Kim Woo-min (swimming), Park Ha-jun, Geum Ji-hyun, Kim Ye-ji (shooting), and Heo Mimi (judo) who have stood on the Olympic podium.
President Yoon said, “We have already achieved our original goal of five gold medals in just three days of the competition, and we are now running towards even greater heights,” and added, “I would like to thank the 143 national team athletes and coaches.”
President Yoon said, “I hope all of our players achieve good results without any injuries,” and added, “I will cheer on ‘Team Korea’ with all my might.”
