People Power Party representative candidate Yoon Sang-hyun said on the 6th regarding the controversy over candidate Han Dong-hoon reading and ignoring text messages received from Ms. Kim Keon-hee while he was vice chairman of the emergency response committee, “At the time, he had to have the will to solve that problem.”

Candidate Yoon met with reporters after attending the Extra-Parliamentary Party Chairpersons’ Council and the First Pastoral Meeting, a town hall meeting hosted by Reflection and Resolution, held at the National Assembly Members’ Hall that afternoon, and stated, “(At the time of the general election), the controversy over Ms. Kim Kun-hee receiving a luxury bag was the biggest issue. (Candidate Han Dong-hoon) should have addressed the main issue.”

Candidate Yoon expressed regret, saying, “Rather than dividing the personal and public relationship, if the President’s wife had sent a text message, she should have responded to it.”

Regarding candidate Na Kyung-won’s claim that this matter was “the relevant act,” candidate Yoon emphasized, “Rather than giving it meaning now, I think we should quickly wrap things up and move on to a ‘policy election’ and a ‘vision election.’”

In addition, candidate Yoon said to a candidate who is at odds with the presidential office, “Trust is the most important thing in the relationship between the ruling and opposition parties,” and added, “The ongoing struggle between the presidential office, Han Dong-hoon, and Won Hee-ryong over the current and future powers is likely to divide the party. I urge you to think about what the ‘wisdom of Solomon’ is and deliberate carefully from the perspective of the party.”

Meanwhile, candidate Yoon mentioned his pledge to establish a second party office in Gwangju at the town hall meeting that day, and said, “In my area (Michuhol-gu, Incheon), 30% of people are from Honam. When we truly show that we are reaching out to Gwangju and Honam, the metropolitan area and Honam will change,” and revealed his party reform plan.

He also proposed to abolish factional politics, saying, “Now, we must completely break away from pro-Yoon (pro-Yoon Seok-yeol) and pro-Han (pro-Han Dong-hoon) factions and unite around policies,” and “Only then will our party improve.”
