World leaders, including President Yoon Seok-yeol, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Argentine President Javier Millais, have joined together to condemn the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

President Yoon Seok-yeol said on the 14th, “I was shocked by the terrible violence. I hope former President Trump recovers quickly.” Former Democratic Party of Korea leader Lee Jae-myung also wrote on ‘X’ (former Twitter) that “I hope candidate Trump recovers quickly.” Representative Lee was also attacked with a weapon in January of this year.

Prime Minister Kishida said through X, “We must firmly stand against any violence that challenges democracy. I hope former President Trump recovers quickly.” Prime Minister Kishida also faced a bomb attack by a man in his 20s while campaigning for a by-election in Wakayama Prefecture in April last year. Fortunately, Prime Minister Kishida was not injured at the time.

Prime Minister Starmer also said on ‘X’, “Any violence will not be tolerated. My condolences to all the victims of this attack.” Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also emphasized, “Political violence will never be tolerated,” and “My condolences to former President Trump, those at the event, and all Americans.” Italian Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni also said, “I hope that in the remaining months (before the US presidential election in November), dialogue and a sense of responsibility will triumph over hatred and violence.”

Prime Minister Netanyahu, who was greatly helped by former President Trump’s “pro-Israel policy” during his term (February 2017–February 2021), said, “I am deeply shocked. I pray for his safety and a speedy recovery.” Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who is called the “Trump of Europe” for his hard-line conservative policies such as anti-immigration, also said, “I will pray for former President Trump.” President Milley also said, “I express all my support and solidarity to him.”

Major leaders in Latin America who have been emphasizing left-wing policies with anti-Trump tendencies also spoke with one voice. Brazilian President Luiz Inácio da Silva and Chilean President Gabriel Boric condemned the assassination attempt and wished former President Trump a speedy recovery.
