Yordan Álvarez Powers Astros to 6-4 Victory Over Rangers, Securing Season Series Win

ARLINGTON, Texas, USA (AP) – Cuban Yordan Álvarez hit a 117 mph home run, Yusei Kikuchi hit eight pitches in the sixth inning and the Astros beat the Texas Rangers 6-4 on Wednesday.

The victory ended the season series for the Astros for the eighth year in a row in the decisive final regular season game between last season’s American Championship Series opponent and the eventual two World Series champions.

Puerto Rican Víctor Caratini also hit the batting mark, and Dominican Jeremy Peña, Honduran Mauricio Dubón, Venezuelan José Altuve and Alex Bregman drove in runs for Houston, which started a day and a half behind Seattle in the division with Texas five goals .

Kikuchi (5-9) held Texas scoreless for five innings before Marcus Semien’s 17th homer, a solo shot, led off the sixth. The Japanese left-hander allowed four hits and two runs in 5 1/3 innings.

For the Astros, Dominic Yainer Díaz is 5-3.

For the Rangers, Cuba Adolis García 3-1. Dominican Leody Taveras was 0-1 with one RBI.
