We will not go to war with Dogan, said the deputy chairman of the DPS
And the ethnic card was handed to the table on the 18th day of the tremors in the DPS. Who harasses MPs and leaders of local structures and is there a division between Bulgarians and Turks, ours and yours and who sows ethnic tension – the two warring camps are pointing fingers at each other. And Yordan Tsonev talked about a new political project led by Delyan Peevski.
Already on Thursday, “24 Chasa” wrote that Iskra Mihailova and Yordan Tsonev were “pitied” by Dogan, so that it would not appear that the purge in the party was ethnic. A day earlier – on Wednesday, Dogan demanded the resignation of six of the management – Delyan Peevski, Stanislav Anastasov, Khalil Letifov, Hamid Hamid, Erten Anisova and Radoslav Revanski.
The first to speak openly about the inflaming ethnic tension in the party was the Deputy Chairman of the DPS and of the Parliament Yordan Tsonev, who requested to leave the party. He did not reject the hypothesis that Peevski founded a new formation and even stated that if this happens, he will follow him.
We will not go to war with Dogan. The question here is different – will we go to war and
let’s try to split a party,
which has its historical role for Bulgaria, or simply everyone will express their will and move forward in the way they think is right, added Tsonev. And he explained that the people do not want and do not deserve the DPS to be split.
I am part of Peevski’s team and the fact that I was not mentioned in Dogan’s letter gives me the opportunity to announce my decision myself – I remain in Peevski’s team and for the first time I will not stay next to Dogan. I respect Ahmed Dogan very much, his historical merits for Bulgaria are indisputable, but what has been happening in recent days makes me hesitate, Tsonev also explained. He pointed out that right now the party is at its peak and approved or not,
Peevski did great things for people
DPS has always been ruled with a firm hand, that’s the tradition, but right now there’s no argument for that.
I remain convinced that for 25 years I have been misled that togetherness is at the core of the DPS philosophy. What I saw in the Facebook group (“I support Ahmed Dogan” – n.b.) is worrying, because I saw purely ethnic calls – we, the Turks, to take back the DPS, the Bulgarians and Pomaks want to take our party. .Disturbing, to say the least, ethnic appeals, this is not Dogan’s philosophy, Tsonev told bTV. The group has more than 26,000 members, and it was in it that the discontent began through declarations in support of the honorary chairman. There, Tsonev encountered attacks on an ethnic basis, which the moderators – people from the DPS, did not tolerate.
I realized that I have been the “Bulgarian” in this party for 25 years
from a publication by Elvan and Yucel Atilla. Similar definitions have now appeared and I urge Mr. Dogan to distance himself from themTsonev also said and explained that he is inclined to believe the interpretations that he was pitied “in order to find some ethnic balance”.
Our battle was another, to really be together, to have no ethnic division. I never thought, being part of the party and getting very high posts from day one, I always thought that this party was ours. And now I heard that this party is not ours, but theirs. Who are we and them, it’s eerie and it hurts me so much, added Tsonev.
He also went into specifics – some of the separatist MPs called local messengers to blackmail and threaten them.
They asked them
“will they betray their ethnicity and party”
and insisted on declaring their support for Honorary President Dogan. Due to stress, some of Peevski’s MPs cried – for example, Elvan Gyurkas, others fainted. Peevski has been talking about pressure since Monday, when the meeting of the regional chairmen was at his place in a capital hotel. However, then he named only one name – that of Jevdet Chakarov. He repeated it in the following days and even warned that some of the pressured leaders of structures would file reports with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but at least until Wednesday there were no officially filed complaints. However, on Friday, Tsonev expanded the list with Ramadan Atalai, Ceyhan Ibryamov and Sevim Ali.
We are outraged that long-time members of the DPS with more than 25 years of history, who rose to the position of vice-presidents of the movement, are trying to sow discord among our sympathizers, members and the Bulgarian public. It is clear to everyone that Dr. Ahmed Dogan is the bearer of ethnic peace in Bulgaria. It is no coincidence that in December 1999, together with President Zhelev, they laid the foundations of this model in which we live todayValentin Tonchev denied on behalf of the breakaways from the DPS.
Ramadan Atalai reacted to Tsonev’s words when he entered the parliament in the morning –
they called him “the Turk”
and called on Tsonev to read “I am Bulgarian”.
With these even fiercer attacks, the working day of the parliament began and led to more debris from the group – first the co-chairman of the DPS youth organization Ibraim Zaidenov, and after him Myumyun Myumyun left the group themselves. Thus, it was left with 23 people, and the independents with Dogan’s support are now 24.
