Yoshimi Yamashita to make history as first female referee to officiate Men’s World Cup Three women including Yoshimi are on FIFA’s referee panel for the Qatar World Cup. Yoshimi Yamashita responded that he accepts the responsibility and will try his best to fulfill the task.
“As a woman, as a Japanese citizen, this is seen as a great responsibility. The goal is to get to the point where a woman refereeing a men’s game is no big deal.” Yoshimi Yamashita said. This is not the first time Yoshimi has made history. Yoshimi is the first woman to manage the J-League and the Asian Champions League.
