Perariwalan was acquitted: Supreme Court verdict

Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi murder case: Supreme Court orders to release everyone!

Nalini, who was acquitted by the court yesterday in the murder case of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, gave an exclusive interview to New Generation TV. Then she said, “My husband Murugan and I will definitely not go to Sri Lanka. We want to visit our daughter in London. There are procedures for that. A passport is required. So the government should help us to go to London,” he demanded.

When asked if there is a chance to meet Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi etc. or Priyanka Gandhi who met you when you were in jail or what would you do if they meet you, he said, “There is no chance of meeting them and they will not want to meet me.” She further said, “It is sad that my husband was taken to the camp after liberation. I want him to be with me as soon as possible.”

Earlier in the Rajiv Gandhi case, Murugan and Chandan, who were acquitted from Vellore Jail and Robert Payas and Jayakumar from Puzhal Jail, were all lodged in a special camp for refugees in Trichy Central Jail Complex. It is said that the four will be kept in a special camp in Trichy until they can go to their desired country.

Speaking at a general press conference, Nalini said, “Even after liberation, my husband was taken to Trichy Special Camp. But he himself told me, “Don’t worry.” Tell me, what happiness will we have after 32 years in jail? Now, my daughter is very happy as she has both parents. My daughter congratulated me and said, “Don’t keep any trouble in your mind and enjoy yourself, mother.” My husband and I are going with our daughter.

My husband sees this release as a miracle. This release has brought great joy when it was thought that it would be delayed. Perariwalan and I kept trying the legal battle. I followed what he was doing. It was very difficult for one to be freed when seven were thought to be freed. It was only after that that we approached the Supreme Court amid great difficulty. At that time My husband told me, “You are my queen. You should not touch anyone. I will look after you’. I don’t care as long as he is there” said.

When Nalini was asked about “some people protesting their release”, she said, “We have been in jail for 32 years… are they not satisfied with that? There is no chance to meet Rahul Gandhi, Sonia and Priyanka. After Priyanka Gandhi met me and left, I prayed to God for her safe passage.

It is a mistake that everyone should always accept everything. Everyone has freedom of expression. You should also take in the opinions of others and act accordingly. It’s written in my head that I should be punished for a mistake I didn’t commit. What does that do? Nothing can be said about those who have an alternative opinion and everything must be accepted. I express my gratitude to the central and state governments.

I want to say one more thing here. A prison is a dark room. The residents do not know what is happening outside. There will be no people to say even a small thing. It was only after I got parole that I learned how to approach the Supreme Court. Similarly, I got a chance to speak with Ravichandran, who is involved in this case. We approached the Supreme Court only after consulting with him. He helped me in this. Time does not pass while in prison. I studied with the help of one of the previous IGs. He was the one who forced me to study.

But A prison is like a hell, a sewer, a cesspool, a burning forest That’s it. Indeed it is. Even in prison, I continued my efforts. I have suffered a lot in my prison life. I have no clothes to wear. I have suffered without even affording a xerox. I learned many things in my prison life. If there’s one university no one can go to, it’s a prison. The reason is university, I have learned some things there. For example, there you can learn temperance and patience. You can also learn to respect others. I learned so many things there that I didn’t have. Also the central government brought various schemes in the prison. But they could not implement it completely. Not even a certificate was issued for the courses completed there,” he said.

I will help the lawyers who advocated for me. Even when there was a case, even when I was in jail… I was never afraid of this case. Everyone knows who I am so I’m not afraid. I’ll be me. Those who accept me, let them accept me. People of Tamil Nadu will definitely accept me. Thanks to the Tamil Nadu government for granting me parole. This ten month material helped me tremendously. At this juncture, I express my condolences to all the civilians and policemen who died in the blast incident. Did they get relief or not? I want to know how they faced this,” he said.
