You inscribe your names forever in golden letters in the glorious history of Bulgarian sport. This was stated by President Rumen Radev, who today awarded the Bulgarian medalists and finalists, who won honors and achieved excellent results at the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris, with the badge of honor of the head of state, plaques and certificates. The ceremony was held in the Coat of Arms Hall at “Dondukov” 2.
“It is a great honor for me to welcome you to the presidential institution and to congratulate you on the Olympic titles, medals and successes you have won. Climbing the Olympic peak is a cherished goal and the biggest challenge in any athlete’s career. A road strewn with countless trials. You know that Olympic glory is imperishable,” Rumen Radev pointed out.
“You not only achieved your goals and the goals set by your coaches, the committee and the federations, but you made us feel proud to be Bulgarians. You gave us the belief that we can compete with the greatest and beat them. With your dedication, will and work, you have become a model for our entire society. I can boldly say in idols for every Bulgarian child who plays sports. You have become one of our best ambassadors abroad and made the world talk about the strong and invincible Bulgarian sports school again,” he addressed the Bulgarian athletes.
The head of state also expressed his gratitude to all the coaches, as well as to the people supporting the sport.
He wished all Bulgarian athletes “health, strong will and new Olympic heights”.
Bulgaria finished in 26th place in the Paris 2024 medal standings with three golds and a total of seven honours. Another title was won at the Paralympics.
