Superstar Rajinikanth turns 73 today. 12 .12. Shivaji Rao Gaekwad was born in Bangalore in 1950 in the then state of Mysore
He lost his mother at the age of 5. He did his schooling at the Acharya School in Bangalore and at the Vivekananda Balak Sangam, a wing of the Ramakrishna Mission.

Rajinikanth, who used to work as a bus conductor in Bengaluru, took acting training at a film college in Taramani in Chennai and became an actor in Tamil. He rose to the status of a superstar. He became the only Indian actor to feature in a Central Secondary School book.
He is the second highest paid actor in Asia after Jackie Chan. Rajinikanth made his acting debut in 1975 with Kamal Haasan Srividya in Apoorvaraganal directed by Balachandar. In the same year he also acted in a small role in the Kannada film Katha Sangama.
