The Marseille midfielder spoke to journalists on Sunday, after the defeat against Paris.
Mattéo Guendouzi (OM midfielder, after the 0-3 defeat against PSG ) : «Missed appointment ? A disappointment, we wanted to get a better result tonight… Afterwards, we have to be realistic: they deserved their victory, they were better than us. We stayed true to our principles, we gave everything, we looked for them high and they were effective in their situations. In any case, it was a difficult match for us. We came across a great team. They have been good. But we’re not going to give up. There are still a lot of matches left and one, very important, in the Coupe de France against Annecy (Wednesday in the quarter-finals, editor’s note). We will continue to give our all. What was missing? If we had scored on our two situations at 0-0, the match might have been different. We lacked efficiency offensively, but also defensively… They put us in difficulty, especially with (Kylian) Mbappé who goes very quickly in front, we saw it on the first goal… (…) We don’t throw everything in the trash because there are still interesting things. We are very disappointed because it is a Classic, especially since there was still a wonderful atmosphere, as always. There is disappointment but we don’t have time to keep our heads down. We are confident for the end of the season. We will continue to work.
The title gone? It will be more difficult, we have to be realistic… By winning, we would have come back to two points. But there are still a lot of matches left, a lot can happen. There is this important match in the Coupe de France. We’re going to give it our all, there are still great things to look for between now and the end of the season. Kylian Mbappe? There is a PSG with and a PSG without Mbappé… Everyone knows about it. He was effective, he showed all his talent. Afterwards, we tried to contain him as best we could but it’s difficult. And when he’s like that, it’s even harder… We’ve stayed true to what we’ve been doing since the start of the season. We are not going to change our philosophy, no matter who we play against, the players we face. It’s a defeat but we are not defeated, there are still matches and goals to achieve.»
