Surveillance video shows the moments when a man gets out of a car apparently pointing a gun at several people on the sidewalk.

One person falls to the ground, while others start to run.

Neighbors this morning had no idea there was a shooting.

“There were a lot of people. Yes, many fireworks in the morning. But I wouldn’t have realized there was a shooting,” Christopher Ignacio said.

In that shooting at 2:20 in the morning, an 18-year-old was killed and another 19-year-old was wounded.

But it was not the only violent event of the night.

The New York police reported that there were at least 10 shootings since midnight, with a preliminary balance of 11 injured and two dead.

There was also a stab wound in Washington Heights, the man is recovering in the hospital.

“It is not easy, it is not easy, but lately there has been a crime here. Lately around here, in these lines, at night, like this,” said Juan Castillo.

Castillo arrived at his job at a store right next to the crime scene on Morris Avenue.

On Wednesday morning, while the police were still collecting evidence, the owner of the business arrived.

He says his son closed the store last night around 11:30.

“He closes the warehouse for me daily, but regularly. Last night, before I went to bed, I called him and told him: ‘he closes the store at his usual time, he doesn’t leave it open for me because the night is dangerous,'” said owner Francisco Medina.

Other neighbors tell us that they were in this area with their family just a few hours before the shooting.

Difo.

“I have nephews, I have a son. So for me it is very shocking that this happens around me, because just as it happened to those affected, it can happen to me and obviously I don’t want that,” said Lenny Difo.

As of Wednesday morning, authorities had 3 people in custody in all cases, 2 of them related to the Fordham Heights shooting.

“It’s happening more constantly than before. So no longer, you no longer feel safe anywhere,” Difo added.

So far authorities have not said if any of the incidents are related.

As investigations continue, anyone with information is asked to contact them.
