BOLZANO. Moments of tension last night (3 April) in the San Maurizio emergency room which required the intervention of police patrols.

A 27-year-old German, who had already been examined and discharged, did not want to leave the facility in any way: not only that, but, on the contrary, he demanded in an altered and threatening tone to be hospitalized, having, according to him, no place to spend the night.

At the firm refusal from the emergency room managers – reports the police headquarters – he flew into a rage; then he began to insult and threaten the health workers in a loud voice, causing the interruption of the service.

When the officers who intervened tried to bring him back to his senses, the young man also targeted the policemen who eventually managed to immobilize him, and then load him into the service car, thus allowing the emergency room to resume normal activity after 20 minutes of forced interruption.

Taken to the police station, the 27-year-old said he had been in Italy for a few days to visit relatives who live in our country and on the way back to Germany, he had bought some drugs in Florence and ran out of money. Not being able to afford a hotel room, he too went to the hospital in the Tuscan capital, asking to spend the night there. When he was refused, he reacted with similar conduct to that in Bolzano, leading to police intervention in that case too.

The man was reported and accompanied to the station and put on a train bound for Germany.

“It was an extremely delicate intervention, in a very sensitive place such as the emergency room – underlines police commissioner Paolo Sartori – where both staff and patients must be able to operate and be sure of receiving the necessary care in peace”.
