by time news

A 14-year-old teenager, rescued after being buried under rubble for seven days due to the earthquake that shook Turkey and Syria on the 6th, is being an inspiration to the rescue teams working at the site of the tragedy that has already left more than 42 thousand dead.

The young man was rescued and is in the care of a medical team from the Christian mission organization Samaritan’s Purse, led by evangelist Franklin Graham, who are also assisting in efforts to find and welcome survivors of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake.

The teenager, whose name was not revealed for privacy reasons, said he was with his family, parents and siblings, at the time the shock occurred. “I remember waking up and hearing the birds,” he said.

“My dad was running towards us, but the building started to fall. At that moment, I knew that my father and mother had just died”, the teenager told the rescue team.

The young man also remembered that after the earthquake, he managed to hold the hand of his younger sister, who was only 8 years old. By that time, everyone had already been buried. “At first, her hand was warm, but then it got cold. She didn’t say anything.”

Another brother who also stayed alive for some time, ended up passing away. The teenager also said that he did not think he was buried for so many days, believing that only one day had passed since the tragedy.

During his reports, he also said that he had a dream about the relatives who had just died in the tragedy. “Stay calm, they will rescue you”, they told the boy, also serving them oranges and honey.

Despite the sadness at having lost all of his family, the brave 14-year-old survivor said he was happy to have been rescued, according to Samaritan’s Purse. See too:
