Young man rescued after climbing a high voltage tower in Atizapán de Zaragoza

Emergency crews rescued a man young who climbed to the top of a high voltage tower in the municipality of Atizapan de Zaragozain the State of Mexico.

On the morning of Tuesday, August 13, emergency crews were dispatched to the El Capulín neighborhood, near the Lechería-Chamapa highway, after they reported the presence of a person at the top of a high-voltage tower.

According to reports, a 19-year-old man, identified as Francisco, climbed to the top of the tower and sat at one end.

After remaining at the scene for several minutes, municipal police, firefighters, Red Cross personnel and CFE personnel arrived at the scene to carry out rescue operations.

Initially, emergency services used two high-frequency radios, one of them attached to a drone, to maintain contact with the young man.

After Francisco gave permission to be lowered from the tower, the emergency services coordinated to lower him cautiously, prioritizing his physical integrity.

Once on the ground, emergency personnel assessed him and later transferred him to the Red Cross in Atizapán to continue his medical care.

It is still unknown why the young man decided to climb the electricity tower.
