MONTESILVANO. The claim for damages made by the family of Veronica Costantini, the young mother of two children, from Montesilvano, is close to five million euros. The woman, 33, died in hospital for a wrong diagnosis, according to what the prosecutor Andrea Papalia writes in his request for indictment with which he wants the trial for three doctors of the Pescara civil hospital accused of manslaughter: the medical director of infectious diseases, Giulio Colella (“for not having promptly diagnosed the pathology of encephalitis on an infectious basis”), the medical director of the psychiatric service, Annamaria Pace, and the head of the same service, Antonio D ‘ Incecco.

Poor Veronica died at the age of 33 from massive cerebral edema caused by herpes encephalitis. Certainly a serious pathology, but which if faced with the right treatment could have saved the life of that young mother and wife.
