The trial of former parliamentarian Hirunika Premachandran in connection with the abduction of a youth has been set.
The court has announced that the case will be taken up for hearing on May 23.
The Colombo High Court Judge also ordered that a notice be sent to the first witness of the complainant to appear before the court on the same day.
On December 21, 2015, Hirunika’s bodyguards abducted the youth in his Defender vehicle in Dematagoda.
Following this, Hirunika was charged with aiding and abetting, with eight bodyguards pleading guilty.
