Youth Congress leader does not have Dio scooter, arrest drama: V.T. Balram
Thiruvananthapuram: Congress leader VT Balram reacted to the incident in which the Youth Congress leader was detained in the AKG center attack case. He responded that Jit, a Youth Congress worker, has nothing to do with the case and the detention can only be seen as a measure to save the face of the government.
VT said that Jitin is a Youth Congress activist and will not deny it. Balram clarified. Balram confirmed that Jit had been called for questioning on the last four occasions in connection with the case, but later he was released and now he was taken into custody again to save the face of the government. Balram alleged.
Ji has nothing to do with the AKG Center attacks. The police said that the person who attacked the AKG center came in a Deo vehicle. Jit doesn’t own a Dio scooter and has no other connections. Arrest is drama.
Balram added that the disturbance caused by seeing and understanding the large crowd in Congress Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi led to the detention.
Youth Congress Atipra constituency president Jitin was taken into custody in the AKG center attack case. The crime branch said that Jitin had thrown the explosive device. Jit is currently being interrogated at the crime branch office in Kavadiyar.
The crime branch had earlier stated that the accused in the case had been identified. Reports have also surfaced that the accused and those who helped him are under surveillance.
Although the accused was identified, the crime branch team was of the position that after collecting sufficient evidence, arrest is enough. The decision was taken against the backdrop of widespread criticism of the police in connection with the AKG Center attack.
On June 30, there was an attack on the AKG center at midnight. The CCTV footage of the attack was released but the investigation team was unable to identify the accused.
The police also suffered a setback as they were not able to clarify the CCTV footage that was examined due to the lack of pixels. The case investigated by a special team comprising two DYSPs was in crisis without evidence.
The police found that the accused was traveling on a Honda Dio model scooter. Based on this, all Honda Dio model vehicles were checked. But information was received from the vehicle experts that the assailant’s vehicle was a Deo standard model vehicle and its headlights had been modified. With that, the investigation focused on the car was also blocked.
After the incident, the security and inspection in front of the AKG Center has been strengthened. The opposition had alleged that the bomber’s story was concocted by the CPI(M) as the accused could not be caught despite the attack on the party headquarters. The issue was also discussed in the assembly. The case was handed over from the special police team to the crime branch when even after weeks there was no clue about the accused.
