In the Lachin region, distinguished by its rich historical past and picturesque nature, the official opening ceremony of the 5th summer camp of diaspora youth took place under the slogan “Youth for the sake of a green world”.

As reported by Day.Az, the national anthem was played at the opening of the event, and a minute of silence was observed in memory of the sons of the Motherland who rose to the pinnacle of martyrdom in the struggle to protect and restore the territorial integrity of our republic, as well as the liberation of our historical lands that were under occupation.

A video was shown about the history of summer camps for diaspora youth and the strong ties of our diaspora with the homeland.

The opening ceremony of the camp was attended by the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Lachin region Masim Mammadov, the Head of the Department of Humanitarian Policy, Diaspora, Multiculturalism and Religion of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Farah Aliyeva, the Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora Fuad Muradov, the representative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Elvin Aslanov, and the Deputy Minister of Culture Farid Jafarov.

Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Lachin district Masim Mammadov informed in detail about the development in Lachin, highly appreciated the holding of the 5th summer camp of diaspora youth in this city. He noted that it is a great pride for young people from 60 countries that such a solemn event is held in Lachin.

Welcoming the participants, Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora Fuad Muradov spoke about the importance of holding such a grand event in Lachin, one of the beautiful corners of Azerbaijan, the courage shown by our army under the leadership of the victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev in liberating the lands from occupation, and the rapidly carried out large-scale construction and restoration work. He especially emphasized the role of youth in resolving issues related to conveying the realities of Azerbaijan to the international community.

Speaking about the importance of the camp, Fuad Muradov informed about the projects implemented by the committee.

Noting that the Azerbaijani communities operating abroad, our compatriots are in the center of attention of President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, the head of the state committee stated that the projects implemented in accordance with this structure led by him serve to strengthen, intensify the ties of our compatriots living abroad with Azerbaijan, so that they do not forget their native language, as well as popularize our history and culture. According to him, the youth policy of the Azerbaijani state is aimed at the development of our youth, regardless of their place of residence, and the successful fulfillment of their civic duties.

Farah Aliyeva, Head of the Department of Humanitarian Policy, Diaspora, Multiculturalism and Religion of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan, assessed the participation of very literate and patriotic youth in the camps as a fact that deserves approval.

Emphasizing that the Heydar Aliyev Foundation makes a great contribution to the development of youth and the identification of their talents, representative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Elvin Aslanov said that in this context, the camp is also of utmost importance.

Deputy Minister of Culture Farid Jafarov noted that summer camps for diaspora youth have a very positive impact on the development of youth.

After the official part, the opening ceremony continued with an artistic part with the participation of famous Azerbaijani art masters.

As part of the event, the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum created a carpet corner where carpet samples from all regions of the country were exhibited.

It should be noted that the 5th Summer Camp of Diaspora Youth, which is being held from August 1 to 7, is organized by the State Committee on Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The 5th Summer Camp, which is considered one of the greatest projects in the history of the Diaspora, is attended by 115 young people from 60 countries. Among them are Azerbaijanis living in various countries of the world, as well as representatives of other nations friendly to Azerbaijan.
