American IT businessman Brian Johnson (47) underwent plasmapheresis to reverse his biological age.
On the 14th (local time), foreign media such as the New York Post reported that Johnson recently revealed through social networking service (SNS) that he had undergone plasmapheresis.
Plasma exchange is a treatment that separates plasma from blood, removes harmful substances, and injects it back into the patient’s blood. It is mainly used for immune diseases or toxin removal. However, it is known that Johnson underwent the procedure for the purpose of preventing aging.
Johnson claimed that the practitioner said his plasma was “the cleanest he has ever seen.” He also boasted, “My plasma is liquid gold.” He said he plans to undergo another round of plasmapheresis and then auction off or donate the resulting plasma.
Johnson, known as a billionaire, has become a hot topic on social media several times for putting tremendous effort into the ‘rejuvenation project’ to prevent aging every year. The project includes a strict diet, consistent exercise, and advanced medical technology. Johnson took more than 100 supplements a day, underwent constant health checkups, and adhered to a strict diet that included eating no food after 11 a.m. I’ve also tried various methods, such as going to bed at 8:30 p.m.
He is also famous for spending $2 million (about 2.7 billion won) every year to stay young. Last year, an attempt to exchange blood across three generations, including the son (18) and the father (71), attracted people’s attention.
Johnson received a transfusion of his son’s blood and transplanted some of his own plasma to his father. Afterwards, he claimed that his father’s physical age had decreased by 25 years. However, questions are being raised about the authenticity of the claim as Johnson did not disclose the biomarker (biomarker), which is the standard for measuring his father’s physical age. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) stated in 2019 that “there is no clinical evidence that receiving blood from young people is effective in slowing aging.”
In his 30s, Johnson sold his software company ‘Braintree’ to eBay for $800 million (about 985 billion won). In a past interview with a media outlet, he explained why he became obsessed with youth, saying, “Before I sold Braintree, I suffered from severe mental and physical stress, and I even had suicidal thoughts.”
