Kochi: More information is out about the incident of a young man committing suicide by slitting his throat on a busy road in the city center. The police said that he committed suicide after attacking his friend. Christopher, a native of Thoppumpadi, died. The incident took place at Desabhimani Junction in Kochi. Nearby CCTV footage has also been released. The tragic incident took place in front of a shop selling pets near Desabhimani Junction around 6 pm. The young man died by slitting his throat after coming to the post near the roadside.
Meanwhile, the police are investigating the reason why he attacked his friend. The injured friend is currently undergoing treatment at the Ernakulam General Hospital. Christopher was rushed to the hospital by traders and policemen with severe injuries to his arm and neck, but his life could not be saved. It is clear from the CCTV footage of the incident that the young man reaches the road and commits suicide.
Police are suggesting that Christopher who committed suicide and his friend who was attacked were working together. It is believed that the reason for the attack was a dispute between them. Christopher had come under a post in front of Kalur market and injured himself before anyone could stop him. He collapsed immediately and died on the spot. Eyewitnesses said that the youth’s hands were tied together and he had cut himself with a knife on his hand and neck.
