youthful sins that we regret painfully

by time news

If you look at old photos, you know that we’ve all made serious mistakes when it comes to style. Sometimes more sometimes less.

“Phew!” sometimes thinks when you look at old photos of yourself. Weird clothes, weird hairstyles with shaved patterns, highlights and colors in them. And then the rest!

The Om tattoo from the Goa vacation or the Chinese characters that you were never sure what they really mean. In addition, all the stupid metal that you have driven through ears, noses and other body parts. Here are a few youthful sins from the past few years that we could do without today.

1. The Tattoo

A tattoo – probably the worst of all youthful sins, because it’s actually on the skin forever. Anyone who cannot afford a more expensive removal with a laser at the dermatologist carries the tattoos around with them for all eternity: the crooked dream catchers from vacation in the States; the passionately stung, later hated names of three-month relationships (“Jaqueline – TRUE LOVE FOREVER UNTIL WE DIE”); or the Asian characters on the forearm, which the tattoo artist swore to mean “purity, soul, forgiveness” – only the Chinese waiter always laughs so strangely when we pick up the vegan sweet and sour duck to go.

2. The hairstyle

Hairstyle fashion is pretty good these days, but there were also times when Cheyenne-Alina and Dustin-Leon had a lot to do in front of the mirror in the morning. Until recently, gender-neutral highlights and shaved like crazy. The worst manifestation of the dyeing and cutting mania was probably in the 1980s – there was creping and bleaching, backcombing and curling, which sometimes meant having to get up an hour earlier so that the hairstyle could be done before school. The whole thing was always contained with so much hairspray that many of us are entitled to our own ozone hole to this day.

A lot of time was invested in the hairstyle of footballer Matthias Lehmann from 1860 Munich. That was in 2005, and now the 39-year-old has opted for a classic short haircut. Fortunately.

3. Piercings

Still part of the goth and fetish subculture in the 90s, piercings became a mass trend in the 2000s and soon the mainstream was riddled with holes like Swiss cheese. The viewer saw something disturbing: Apart from earrings, we perforated our nostrils and this small bridge between the nostrils, which nobody knows what it is called.

Metal rings and pins were driven through lips, brows, nipples and tongues and actually made nobody more beautiful. Not to mention more freaky, because soon Anika and Kevin were also pierced and then it wasn’t a trend anymore. Anyone who still believes that a piercing is evidence of a particularly inappropriate way of life has probably spent the last few decades in a hole in the woods.

We don't know why the model in this iconic image is pouting like that, but we're afraid it has nothing to do with her piercings.

4. Clothes

The widest field of horror, but fortunately also the one where the mistakes and missteps are ephemeral. The horrible clothes we’ve worn in the past: Baggy pants and boot-cut jeans made us look either like inmates in California’s maximum-security prisons or cowboys who had never been on a horse in their lives, cowboy boots included.

We wore crop tops with platform shoes and neon jackets. Puffer and flokati jackets and sweatshirts with tribal prints. Does that sound familiar to you? That’s right, because the worst thing about all these clothes is that they’re already back in fashion. The good thing about it: In a year at the latest, these revival trends will be history again. Hopefully.

Just out of our heads and already hip again: Buffalo plateau sneakers, popularly known simply as Buffalos. Also in silver a horror!
