Kollam: Two youths, including a woman police constable, were injured in a violent incident at Anchalummoodu junction on Tuesday night. Anjalummoodu police arrested Sooraj (23) and his friend Sarath (23) from Sakthikulangara Kannimelcheri Ayaniyilveettil Ayaniyilveettil, who were staying at a rented house in Thrikkaruva Prakkulam Thanalidam in connection with the attack.
Police said: Govt. Aji, who runs a flower shop in Anjalummoottil, was hit by a car in front of the Higher Secondary School. Aji, who was questioned, was beaten by a group of youths. He was hit in the head with a helmet. When the youths tried to escape, the bike hit the feet of Ullas, a native of Thrikkaruva. Many were beaten by young men. The youths were arrested after being informed at the police station.
The youths who reached the station also showed violence there. Ajimole, a senior female civil police officer on duty, was grabbed by her uniform and kicked in the chest. Equipment worth Rs 5,000 at the station was smashed.
The injured Ajimol, Ullas and Aji were rushed to various hospitals for treatment. Police have registered separate cases in both the cases. Anchalummoodu Station SHO SIs B Shyam, NJ Harikumar, V Jayaprakash, S Pradeep Kumar, PS Lagoshkumar and ASIs led by C Devarajan. The accused were arrested by a team comprising V Biju, CPOs Sumesh, Victor and Najeeb. The accused were remanded.
