YouTube deletes 17 lakh videos of Indian users Dinamalar

New Delhi: YouTube said it has removed 17 lakh videos uploaded by Indian users in July, August and September alone for violating its guidelines.

YouTube, the popular video site, is removing channels and videos that violate its policies. In the first quarter of this year (January to March), 11 lakh videos uploaded from India were deleted.

Meanwhile, during the third quarter of July to September alone, YouTube said it removed more than 17 lakh videos uploaded by Indian users for violating its company policy.

It is also reported that more than 56 lakh videos have been deleted worldwide during the same period. Of these, 36 percent of videos are deleted by “automatic” software before anyone watches them, and 31 percent of videos are uploaded and deleted between 1 and 10 views, YouTube said.

It also removed 73.7 crore comments that violated policies. 99 percent of the comments have been deleted by ‘automatic’ software.
