Google’s video streaming platform YouTube is testing a new “Play Something” feature for its mobile app, which will help YouTube play suggested videos. According to a report by 9To5Google, the new Play Something button appears as a floating action button on the latest beta version of the YouTube app on Android.
These great features will be available in YouTube
According to the report, when you open the app, a Play Something button appears in place of the video player. Tapping the button starts playing a video selected by YouTube, taking into account the user’s set order of videos. The video player appears in portrait orientation with buttons for like, dislike, comment, and share on the right side of the screen.
This is how the new feature will work
- As soon as the app is opened, users will see a “Play Something” button.
- On pressing this button, YouTube will suggest and play a video based on the user’s viewing history.
- This feature will work similarly to YouTube Shorts, but it will also be able to play regular videos.
New feature will be like Youtube Shorts
This feature video player looks similar to YouTube Shorts. Last month, YouTube revealed that it was testing a new feature that would help creators “restyle” the audio tracks in YouTube Shorts with the help of artificial intelligence. However, this feature is available for a limited number of songs for creators.
Testing of YouTube’s new feature begins
From YouTube, the creator gets the option to choose the right song. Users can decide how they want to change it? The AI then produces a 30-second soundtrack tailored for YouTube shorts. Let’s say, if a creator wants to change a song, they can input the AI with “Restyle this track.” This feature will then create a custom soundtrack that innovates while maintaining the original tone and lyrics.
