With the widespread invasion of artificial intelligence technology, which has breached privacy, all social media platforms are working diligently to find solutions to protect users.
In this context, YouTube introduced a policy change that “allows people to request the removal of content generated by artificial intelligence that mimics their faces or voices.”
According to the change reported by tech sites, “people are allowed to request the removal of this type of content under YouTube’s privacy request process.”
According to the information, “YouTube wants affected parties to request the removal of the content directly as a violation of privacy, but simply submitting a removal request does not necessarily mean that YouTube will remove the content immediately; because it will make its own judgment on the complaint based on whether the content to be removed is artificial or made using artificial intelligence, and whether it clearly identifies the person, and it will also consider whether the artificial intelligence content includes a well-known public figure engaged in “sensitive behavior” such as violence or endorsing a particular political candidate.”
YouTube said it will also give the content uploader 48 hours to deal with the complaint, and if the content is removed before this time, the complaint will be closed. Otherwise, YouTube will begin investigating.
YouTube warned users that “removal means removing the video entirely from the site, and if possible, removing the individual’s name and personal information from the video’s title, description, and tags as well.”
YouTube introduced a tool in Creator Studio in March that allowed it to detect when realistic-looking content was created using modified or synthetic media, including generative AI. It also recently began testing a feature that lets users add group notes that provide additional context to videos, such as whether they were intended to be parodies or if they were misleading in some way.
