jpnn.comJAKARTA – ‌Member of Commission I⁣ DPR RI Yoyok Riyo Sudibyo stated that it is important for the State Intelligence ⁢Agency (BIN) to carry out its duties ⁣professionally during the 100 working days and in monitoring the implementation of the upcoming⁣ 2024 Simultaneous⁤ Regional Elections.

Yoyok encouraged BIN to ensure there‌ is no interference in the implementation of the⁣ 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada, not to become a political tool to win one of the candidate pairs.

“BIN should not be ‍a political tool for ⁣certain groups. It was‍ previously stated‍ that BIN should not be a mouthpiece for the victory of‌ a party‌ or individual. So, BIN remains submissive, obeying orders ⁤from the president,” ‍said Yoyok after attending a hearing with the‍ Head of BIN M . Herindra and his staff at the DPR‍ Building, Senayan, Jakarta, ⁣Monday (4/11).

Yoyok sees that BIN under Herindra’s new leadership has a clear vision and mission for 100 working days and will ‌prevent disruption to the implementation of the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections. However, on the other hand, this member of the NasDem Party faction also hopes that Herindra can become the intelligence coordinator‍ for all of Indonesia.

“Because indeed, sometimes reports in vulnerable areas,‌ reports‌ regarding incidents are still not in sync⁢ between intelligence officers in other places ⁢or agencies, for example the police, for example‍ Customs ‌and Excise, for example the prosecutor’s office, ⁤the regional BIN and also the Regional Military Command, “Then ⁣many of the Regional Police are still not in sync. Therefore, I from Commission I really emphasize the State Intelligence Agency⁣ to truly become‍ the ⁣coordinator ⁢of all existing intelligence ⁢apparatus,” he explained.

Yoyok said that so far coordination between intelligence agencies was still weak. Inter-agency activities are still limited to formalities in ⁣exchanging information related to ⁤security.

“In the country, it means communities at the ⁤central level, ‌at the provincial level, at the ‍provincial level,‌ at the district level, ⁣at the district level. So that there is harmony regarding threats, yes, regarding current threats. All communities⁤ can see the foremost threats,⁢ the nearest ones, for example, yes, that’s “separatist problems, especially in Papua,” said Yoyok.

The former Regent of Batang for two terms added that there were too many civilian⁣ and TNI victims in Papua. Then regarding our democracy, which in quotation marks, ⁢several people said ⁣was the ‍most brutal in yesterday’s presidential election.

Yoyok also saw that the Head of⁣ BIN still⁢ had a lot of homework to do, including issues regarding online loans, online gambling, drugs and the‍ economy.

Interview‌ with Yoyok Riyo Sudibyo, Member of Commission I DPR RI

Time.news Editor: Good ‍day, Mr. Sudibyo. Thank you for joining us today. Let’s dive right into a pressing topic: the role of the‍ State Intelligence Agency (BIN) as we⁢ approach the 2024 Simultaneous ⁣Regional Elections. What ‍do you see as ‌the most crucial priority for BIN during this period?

Yoyok Riyo Sudibyo: Thank you ‌for having me. As we approach the ⁣elections,⁤ it’s vital for BIN to execute its duties with professionalism. My foremost concern is ensuring that they operate without any external political pressure or interference. They must act as a neutral entity to uphold the integrity of ⁤the ‌electoral ‍process.

Time.news Editor: That’s certainly vital.‍ You’ve mentioned previously that BIN should not become a⁢ political tool. Can you elaborate on why⁤ this independence is so important?

Yoyok Riyo Sudibyo: Absolutely. When intelligence agencies serve specific political interests, it undermines the⁤ foundational democratic principles we strive for. BIN’s primary role is to protect the state ‍and maintain‍ public order, not to‌ influence the outcome of elections.‌ By remaining‌ impartial‌ and beneficial to all,⁢ they can foster trust among the electorate.

Time.news Editor: Trust is indeed key. Now, you mentioned⁤ the new leadership‌ of BIN ‌under M. Herindra. What makes you optimistic about this new leadership in preventing disruption during the upcoming elections?

Yoyok Riyo Sudibyo: Under Herindra, there is a clear vision for ⁤the ⁢agency’s direction over ⁤the first 100 days. This is critical. His ‍leadership reflects a ‍commitment to ensuring that ⁤all operations are concerted and streamlined for the electoral process, which gives me confidence that potential disruptions can be ‌effectively managed.

Time.news Editor: ⁤That’s promising. However, you also raised concerns regarding synchronization between various intelligence units and‍ agencies. How do you propose this can be ⁢improved?

Yoyok Riyo ⁢Sudibyo: The synchronization issue is significant. Effective communication between BIN, the police, military commands,‌ and other agencies is ⁤imperative for comprehensive situational awareness. I hope that Herindra will⁤ serve not⁢ just as ‍the ‍head of BIN but also ‌as a facilitator for better coordination across all intelligence and law enforcement segments in⁢ Indonesia.

Time.news Editor: Coordination across agencies seems like a solid path ⁤forward. As we look ⁣ahead to the elections, what‍ do you think is the biggest challenge these agencies will face?

Yoyok Riyo Sudibyo: One of ⁢the biggest challenges will be managing cybersecurity⁣ threats‍ and misinformation campaigns that could escalate during the election period. BIN must ⁢be agile and proactive in addressing these issues to protect the ‌electoral⁣ process from manipulation.

Time.news Editor: That’s a ‍critical point, ‌and it resonates⁤ with challenges seen ⁤globally. Moving back to the topic of public trust, how can BIN build this trust ahead of the elections?

Yoyok Riyo Sudibyo: ‍Transparency and accountability are crucial.‌ BIN can ⁢build public trust by⁢ regularly reporting on its ⁢activities and ensuring‍ that its operations are in line with democratic principles. Engaging with communities, providing clear information, and being ‍responsive to public ⁢concerns will‌ significantly⁤ help in this regard.

Time.news Editor: Wise suggestions, Mr. Sudibyo. As we wrap up, what ⁢message would you like to ‌send to the ⁢voters as‌ we approach the 2024 elections?

Yoyok Riyo Sudibyo: I urge voters to⁢ remain ‌vigilant and informed. The integrity of our electoral‍ process depends not only⁢ on the institutions involved‍ but also on the active participation of the electorate. Let’s work together to‍ ensure a fair and just election that reflects the will of the people.

Time.news Editor: Thank you,‌ Mr. Sudibyo, for your‌ insights and contributions as we navigate these important⁣ times. We appreciate your work and wish you and your colleagues the best in maintaining the integrity of the upcoming elections.

Yoyok Riyo Sudibyo: Thank ‍you for having me. I look forward to a successful electoral process in⁤ 2024!
