Yuhan Corporation announced on the 23rd that in celebration of Earth Day on April 22nd, it conducted a forestry activity at Noeul Park in which about 90 employees and their families participated.
For this activity, about 300 executives and employees have grown acorn seedlings in each home since last winter, and this time, they were transplanted to Noeul Park and carried out spring environmental activities by planting seedlings of various other species.
Yuhan Corporation, in cooperation with the Noeul Park Citizens’ Association, has been carrying out tree planting volunteer activities at Noeul Park, which was a landfill, as part of biodiversity conservation since 2018. Starting in 2020, we have been carrying out activities such as growing acorns at home and transplanting them to Noeul Park.
About 90 employees and their families who participated in forestry activities received training on the background of Noeul Park, which was a landfill, and the local ecological characteristics, and then carried out seed bank activities and planting activities. Seed banking is an activity that prevents soil from washing away and helps acorns germinate by putting seeds and soil in eco-friendly bags and placing them on slopes where trees have difficulty growing, so that the seeds can grow into seedlings. For the planting activity, a family of preschool children transplanted acorn seedlings from a tree growing area, and other families planted seedlings such as willow trees, oak trees, and Quercus trees on the northern slope of Noeul Park.
An official from Yuhan Corporation said, “We hope that the forest created with the sincerity of our employees will alleviate heat waves and fine dust, and contribute even a little to climate change and the protection of Noeul Park’s ecological environment.” He added, “The children who participated in this forestry project will help protect the environment.” “It will be a meaningful activity to recognize its importance through experience,” he said.
Yuhan Corporation plans to continue its Noeul Park forestry activities in the future. In addition to biodiversity activities near the business site, we plan to carry out various eco-friendly activities such as plogging in our neighborhood with employees, organizing closets for the earth, and otter habitat restoration activities.
