Yumbo Wisma won the opening section of Valletta

Yombo Wisma proved to be the strongest team in the Tour de France and they brought the momentum from France to Valetta España. The Dutch team won this evening (Friday) in the team section against the clock in Utrecht (23 km) that opened the Spanish race.

The Dutch team of reigning champion Primoge Roglich finished 13 seconds behind Inaus (Richard Karpas) who came in second. Quick Step with the promising Remko Abanpol settled for third place (14+ seconds) on the podium in the Dutch city. Dutch veteran Robert Hasink will take the red jersey, while Roglic will ride in the green jersey in the second section and has already opened a nice gap over the rest of his competitors.

Israel’s Premier Tech, which jumped with Omer Goldstein and Itmar Einhorn representing the blue and white, finished in 16th place (out of 22 teams) 1 minute and 4 seconds behind Yumbo Wisma’s train. This is a mediocre result for a team that is not considered outstanding against the clock. In any case, Premier Tech hopes to place Michael Woods, its leading rider, as high as possible in the general standings.

Tomorrow the second section of the Valetta from Harthunbush to Utrecht will take place – 175.1 km completely flat, which will give the leading sprinters an opportunity to show their ability. Einhorn will try to bolt as high as possible and prove that his performances from last season in Valetta were no fluke.
