Yumon launches the first fantasy world for gamer-owned creators. The game turns YouTubers and content creators into fictional heroes through a certified digital pool.

Collectibles can be played and traded with fans. It’s a game where the protagonists of livestreams and YouTubers (like CamOnTheCob) are Yumon founder Matthias Salanon said in an interview with GamesBeat. In January, we raised $2 million from creators and business angels from Meta, Epic, Unity, Webedia, Ubisoft, Twitch, and The Sandbox.

By using blockchain-based non-fungible tokens (NFTs), Yumon combines digital ownership, mainstream game mechanics, and an innovative economy, Salanon said.

According to Salanon, the game will help influencers by building new revenue streams for creators while providing innovative ways to engage with fans and a powerful alternative to advertising-only revenue models. About 98% of a content creator’s revenue comes from ads.

Yumon raised $2 million.

In the game, Yumon World is destroyed by a mysterious dark force. An unknown hero, loved by its inhabitants, decided to take revenge and save this world. These powerful heroes rely on real influencers. According to Solanon, Yumon is often referred to as a Pokemon for banners.

“We’re probably less well known, and we’ve benefited from the popularity of the big broadcast companies.

Fans can use their inventory to play and win the virtual tournaments offered by the game. You can also trade items freely and enjoy a special experience where you can win money and prizes. As such, Yumon is an expanded form of sponsorship that better aligns with the interests of creators and fans while making digital ownership mainstream, Salanon said.

The startup has major support in this mission as it has been accepted into Ubisoft Entrepreneurs Lab, a Paris-based accelerator that has been incubating blockchain startups for years.

Through a pre-sale event, Yumon sold booster packs containing 3D cards exclusively to popular content creators. The Yumon α game period will begin in September 2022, right after the public release. Players can play with their favorite streaming devices and use cards in fantasy games. In the collectible card game, you play with the creator, just as you do with pokemon cards.

For creators

Yomon character.

Yumon picks 18 creators to start the Genesis season. Yumon lets you celebrate the brands you create on Twitch and Youtube with fantasy games where the creators are heroes. Since they’re on discount, content creators rely less on ads to fuel their business.

Salanon said that Yumon allows content creators to be 100% consistent with the products they are promoting on their channels and feel comfortable and proud of the products they are talking about. Content creators can promote personalized, fully customized digital products, integrated with their creative world.

“I love this idea of extra sponsorship, where you can donate and connect with your favorite creators in another way and have something you own in the future,” said Salanon.

Yumon removes the current discrepancy between creator-sponsored products on channels (NordVPN, HelloFresh, etc.) and creator-created content. Yumon enables video creators to enter the world of 3D, expand their reach, and take their audience to new entertainment heights.

for the fans

Fans can play Yumon with their favorite creators.

Yumon allows your audience to access your digital property without any knowledge of Web3. And ardent fans can express themselves, be recognized as such, and receive exclusive bespoke privileges.

The company enables fans to benefit from the depth of their knowledge of their favorite creators when playing the creators’ fantasy games. Yumon allows fans to navigate the digital world alongside the people they know best online: their favorite creators.

With this plan, Yumon hopes to provide access and enjoyment to Web3 technologies. Web3 technology is currently mainly aimed at crypto-savvy users.

Salanon hopes to democratize blockchain technology, treating it as an ordinary technology that deserves to fade into the background because it is built into something useful. According to Salanon, Yumon strictly applies carbon-neutral rules to all technology choices related to blockchain.

Besides Salanon, co-founders Quentin Le Drean and Edouard Ruiz. They started the company a year ago and have 10 employees. Salanon previously worked on blockchain technology and games at Ubisoft and Voodoo. Consultants include entrepreneurs Remy Russo, Nicholas Poire (Ubisoft) and Sebastien Bourget (Sandbox).

“We want content creators to find new and meaningful revenue streams that don’t negatively impact their content,” says Salanon. “We can actually turn creators into video game characters. We are turning that into powerful new entertainment for our fans.”

The registration process should be smooth. If you don’t have a cryptocurrency wallet, you can seamlessly create one using your Twitch account.

Salanon admits that not all creators and gamers like NFTs. But the company has attracted innovators who believe in new technology. The company uses ImmutableX blockchain technology.

“We want to be the next Patreon with more benefits,” Salanon said. “You can own a portion of a creator’s brand through NFT”.
