Terrible drama in Poissy (Yvelines). A 15-year-old boy was found dead hanging from the bars of his bed on Tuesday evening. In circumstances that have yet to be determined, a relative discovered the young man hanging by a bolster case from his loft bed. He was in cardiorespiratory arrest when paramedics arrived. The firefighters intervened quickly to try to resuscitate him but he was pronounced dead at 7 p.m.

Investigators from the Conflans-Sainte-Honorine police station then went to the family home in the Maladrerie district to make the first findings. An investigation into the cause of death has been opened. The track of suicide is, for the moment, privileged.

Victim of school bullying

The police learned that the boy and his father had gone to the Poissy police station in recent months to report the school harassment of which the teenager was allegedly the victim. Two students from his previous school, Lycée Adrienne-Bolland, would have regularly attacked him.

Schooled in 3rd “trade preparation”, the boy had been the victim of “bullying” and “repeated insults” from other students during the 2022-2023 school year, said the Minister of National Education Gabriel Attal this Wednesday evening. Despite several meetings, including one with the students in question, the boy’s parents denounced in April, in a letter, “the absence of measures taken to deal with this situation of harassment”.

He had been re-schooled in a high school in Paris

Since then, the child had changed establishments and was enrolled in a Parisian high school. It is not yet known if the harassment had continued and if he explained his dramatic gesture on Tuesday evening. Investigators seized his phone and computer equipment. “His environment, including the school aspect, is verified,” confirms a source close to the case.

His body was transferred to the forensic institute of Garches (Hauts-de-Seine) to be autopsied there in the coming days. His father has not yet been heard. His mother, in a state of shock, had to be hospitalized. According to our information, the First Lady Brigitte Macron, and the deputy of Yvelines Karl Olive, former mayor of Poissy, will go to the family home this Thursday.

A psychological cell in his old high school

The Rectorate of Versailles specifies that a psychological unit will be set up this Thursday morning within the Adrienne-Bolland high school. It is a question of accompanying the teachers and the pupils of an establishment placed under police protection this Wednesday, the day after the tragedy. In response, the Minister of National Education announced on Wednesday the launch of an administrative investigation. He plans, soon, a “strong initiative” on the subject of school harassment.

In 2022, according to National Education figures, 10% of adolescents say they have been bullied at school. A phenomenon that is growing more and more on social networks where 40% of young Internet users regularly face online harassment on social networks. Suicide represents 16% of deaths among young people aged 15 to 24. A figure, which, despite awareness campaigns, does not decline. Since this summer, a decree has made it possible to expel bullying students from their establishment.
