A dramatic accident occurred this Saturday at the end of the day on the island of Chaussée in Bougival (Yvelines). In circumstances that have yet to be clarified, a 5-year-old girl from Poissy fatally drowned in the Seine around 6 p.m. The facts took place within the Nautic Park, located at the bottom of the Vieljeux park, a floating structure which offers nautical leisure activities on the river.
According to our information, the tragedy occurred when the nautical base was preparing to close its doors. The little girl was playing with her 7-year-old brother in the “Moussaillons” space reserved for children. She was obviously trying to catch water spiders when she fell from the pontoon near inflatable rollers intended for games.
Alerted by the cries of her big brother, the dad, who was only a few meters away, and the manager of the Nautic Park immediately jumped into the water to try to get her out of the river. Without achieving it. The child seems to have sunk immediately.
It was the firefighters who were finally able to recover his lifeless body almost an hour later. The long efforts then made by the rescue teams to try to resuscitate her proved to be in vain.
