After only two years of existence, the “Fast 5000” athletics meeting in Montesson (Yvelines) is moving upmarket at lightning speed. This unique event, which gives amateur runners the chance to compete against the best, is taking a new step this year with the arrival of a partner of choice.
The Swiss equipment manufacturer On Running, in which ex-tennis player Roger Federer has been a shareholder since 2019, includes it as the Parisian stage of its new global series of meetings called “On Track Nights”. Montesson is listed alongside Los Angeles (USA), Highgate (Great Britain), Vienna (Austria) and Melbourne (Australia).
The Swiss brand offers a totally innovative vision of the simple athletics meeting. The main idea is to shake up the codes and move away from classic competition rigidity. With the support of SO Houilles and AC Montesson, around a hundred volunteers organize this festive “Fast 5000” where the only goal is to beat your record over 5,000 meters.
