Zaharaki: Subsidized tourism studies program €46 million in 2023

The actions of the Ministry of Tourism in terms of tourism education were highlighted by the Deputy Minister of Tourism Sofia Zaharakis from the stage of the EENE event.

Ms. Zaharakis initially said that in the career days organized by the Ministry of Tourism, 2,500 appointments were made and he focused on the work carried out by the tourism schools of the Ministry.

As he said, there is significant demand in the regional tourism schools in Argos, Alexandroupoli, Galaxidi, Heraklion in Crete and also in Anavyssos, the flagship of the Greek tourism schools. It is characteristic that only 20% of the prospective visitors stay outside schools, and this, because there are specific spaces, as he pointed out.

Regarding the front of upgrading tourism studies, he said that in 2023 a subsidized program of 46 million euros will be run for each interested party. The said program will be in digital format in order to concern interested parties from all over Greece.

He also said that every year 2,500 students attend the Ministry of Tourism’s schools and the fact that every year the schools are entered into the Ministry of Education’s computer system has contributed to this.

Finally, he emphasized that an effort is being made to have a tourism academy in Greece, always in consultation with the EU.
