Dubai: This year’s Fitr Zakat in the UAE will be 25 dirhams, officials said. For those who do not fast due to illness or old age, the fidyah will be 15 dirhams. The Kaffara for those who deliberately abstain from fasting for no serious reason is set at 900 dirhams (60 meals for the poor). The proposal was issued by the UAE Fatwa Council. The Iftar food package is set at 15 dirhams. People can donate this amount through sponsored charities and sponsor Iftar food parcels. Those who have committed a sin that does not break the fast should feed six poor people. The fatwa council also said that 90 dirhams should be paid for this.
