Zakharova noted the legality of the CSTO mission in Kazakhstan – RBK

by time news

The mission of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) was sent to Kazakhstan on absolutely legal grounds when it came to an external threat. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova on the air of the YouTube channel “Soloviev Live”.

“An absolutely legal reaction to the same legal treatment by the legally elected president of Kazakhstan,” Zakharova said.

According to her, the mission was sent to Kazakhstan only after the internal political methods were exhausted and the facts spoke “including about an external threat.”

On January 5, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that a request for help from the CSTO would be “appropriate and timely” amid protests over a double increase in the price of liquefied gas, which then escalated into riots.

The Ministry of Defense announced the ongoing transfer of the CSTO military to Kazakhstan
