On Friday evening at the final athletics session at the 2024 Olympic Games, ZDF officially said goodbye to presenter Norbert König (more on that here!). But he is far from the only one who is retiring after the Olympics.

Several reporters and commentators said goodbye to ZDF after the Olympics. But ARD also has to say goodbye.

In addition to the sports reporter Norbert König, he was also on the last Olympic Games on ZDF for Christoph Hamm (handball), Aris Donzelli (tennis), Norbert Galeske (sprint rowing and canoe) and Michael Pfeffer (cycling and boxing) . All were also used in winter sports for ZDF. In the future, viewers will have to do without the popular commentators, but there are already new faces in the starting blocks.

“We and the program will lose our colleagues,” emphasizes Polus. But it also “gives us the opportunity to develop ZDF’s sports department in the future.” Some younger colleagues have already moved up. The change from generation to generation has been in full swing for some time.

Goodbye too on ARD

At ARD you don’t have to say goodbye to such a large number of reporters and commentators. However, long-time employee Wilfried Hark has left. Hark made his final athletic appearance at the Olympics.
