Sad news from Michael Schanze: The actor and TV presenter has lost his long-time partner Uschi Köhl. The costume designer from Cologne died unexpectedly last Monday, July 29, at the age of 70 from the consequences of “massive brain hemorrhages.” This is what the 77-year-old told the “Bild” newspaper in an interview.
In the afternoon he found his girlfriend lifeless in her winter garden in München found, he reports. The actor then called the emergency doctor, who tried for almost an hour to resuscitate the 70-year-old – but without success. “The doctor said that Uschi still had no chance. The autopsy revealed massive brain hemorrhages,” says Michael Schanze.
The former “1, 2 or 3” presenter is deeply sad: “I am currently battling in very heavy seas.” Now he has to take care of the funeral and the memorial service. He is receiving support from his sons, who come from his previous marriage, which ended in divorce in 2000.
He met his Uschi 40 years ago on the set of his series “Telezirkus”, where she worked as a costume designer. The two became a couple about ten years ago. She moved in with him in Munich, where the death drama took place – and where Michael Schanze is now on his own.
Michael Schanze became a fixture on television in the 1970s. His first show was the ZDF program “Hätten Sie heut’ Zeit für mich?” in 1974. This was followed by the children’s quiz show “1, 2 oder 3”, which Schanze hosted from 1977 to 1985.
