New Delhi: The Supreme Court has asked Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and his family to provide Z Plus security inside India and abroad. The court said that Zed Plus security should be provided to Ambani and his family in Mumbai, anywhere in India and abroad and the cost of this should be borne by the Ambani family.
A bench consisting of Justices Krishnamurari and Ahsanuddin Amanullah gave instructions in this regard. Security will be provided to Mukesh Ambani, his wife Nita Ambani and their children Akash, Anand and Isha in view of the ongoing threat.
If the family is in Maharashtra, the security will be the responsibility of the state government and in other places the home ministry. The Center had approached the Supreme Court questioning the Tripura High Court’s consideration of a plea against providing government security to Ambani and his family. The order is in a case related to this. In 2013, Ambani’s security was upgraded from Z category to Z Plus category.
Z plus category security
Z Plus category is the second highest security system in the country. More than 150 security personnel will be there around the clock. A security team including more than 10 NSG commandos, police and officers will be assigned in Z plus category security. SPG level security is the highest security in the country. The Prime Minister has this security.
