Zeekr 7GT: Chinese EV Disruptor Set to Challenge European Automakers

A new contender is entering the European electric vehicle market, and it’s bringing aggressive pricing and cutting-edge technology. Zeekr, the Chinese electric car brand, is poised to launch its 7GT model in France and across Europe, promising ultra-fast charging, Tesla-like features, and a price point that undercuts established German rivals.

Zeekr 7GT: A Long-awaited arrival

After being known under the code name EL7, the Zeekr 7GT was officially unveiled at the 26 Brussels Motor Show, signaling a serious challenge to the dominance of European automakers.

Design and Features: A Blend of Style and Tech

visually, the 7GT makes a statement. Designed in Gothenburg, the vehicle boasts shooting brake proportions, measuring 4.82 meters long, 1.91 meters wide, and a low 1.46 meters in height. It’s a striking vehicle, accentuated by large wheels and minimized overhangs. Tho, one notable feature from the Chinese version has been removed for European compliance: the “Stargate,” an interactive LED panel on the grille.According to a company release, this change is due to stricter European regulations regarding exterior lighting.

Inside, Zeekr aims for a premium experience. The interior features a massive 15-inch OLED center display, a 13-inch instrument cluster, and a class-leading 35.5-inch head-up display (HUD). Finishes include soft leather, Alcantara, and foamed plastics, while standard features on select trims include dog mode, camping mode, and massaging seats.

Despite the luxurious interior, the 7GT’s trunk space is a point of concern. At 456 liters, it’s smaller than many vehicles in the lower segment. “Zeekr has favored style and rear legroom, which seems royal, rather than luggage space,” one analyst noted. The “frunk” (front trunk) offers limited additional space, ranging from 35 to 65 liters depending on the engine configuration.

800-Volt Architecture: Charging at the Speed of the Future

The Zeekr 7GT’s most significant technological advantage lies in its 800-volt architecture, inherited from the SUV 7X. This allows for exceptionally fast charging times, rivaling the best on the market. Two battery options will be available:

  • LFP 75 kWh battery: Offers a WLTP range of 519 km and can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 13 minutes.
  • 100 kWh NMC Battery: extends the range to 655 km WLTP, with a 10-80% charge time of 16 minutes.

The top-of-the-line, dual-motor, all-wheel-drive version delivers 646 horsepower and a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.3 seconds. Active air suspension is also included for a balance of comfort and handling.

Pricing and Availability: A Game changer

Perhaps the most disruptive aspect of the Zeekr 7GT is its pricing. The company is taking aim at the European market with aggressive pricing that is expected to put pressure on established manufacturers.

  • Zeekr 7GT Core RWD: €45,990
  • Zeekr 7GT Long Range RWD: €50,990
  • Zeekr 7GT Privilege AWD: €57,490

For context, an Audi A6 avant e-tron starts at over €66,000, and a BMW i5 Touring exceeds €77,000, excluding options. The Zeekr 7GT offers comparable, and in some cases superior, charging and performance capabilities for a price difference of €20,000 to €30,000.

The Zeekr 7GT will be available across Europe starting in June 2026, with the brand’s arrival in France confirmed for later this year. This station wagon will be among the first models offered to French consumers, signaling a new era of competition in the European EV landscape.
