President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said he did not understand what guarantees he could give Russia. He invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to sit down at the negotiating table.
“Guarantees for what? We are not attacking Russia, we are not going to attack it. Guarantees? What, are we in NATO? No. Do we have nuclear weapons? No. What should I say, to whom should I give something? You understand, this is also an information bomb that everyone is talking about. What to give, Lord,” Mr. Zelensky answered the question whether Ukraine was ready to give Russia any guarantees. The broadcast was conducted by the UATV channel on YouTube.
“What do you want from us? Get off our land. If you don’t want to leave now, sit down with me at the negotiating table. I am free. Sit with me, just don’t need 30 meters, as with Macron, Scholz and so on. I’m a neighbour. I don’t need to be kept at 30 meters. I do not bite. I am a normal man. Sit with me and talk. What are you afraid of? We do not threaten anyone, we are not terrorists, we do not seize banks and do not seize other people’s lands,” the Ukrainian president added.
Mr. Zelensky believes that negotiations with Russia make sense. In his opinion, there are topics where compromises can be found, “so that people do not die.” “But there are things in which there are no compromises. However, you can’t pick up and leave, saying: “This is your country, Ukraine is part of Russia.” It’s impossible,” he says.
In Belovezhskaya Pushcha today, on March 3, the second round of talks between Russia and Ukraine ended. They lasted about two and a half hours. The parties agreed on the organization of humanitarian corridors. A special communication channel will be created for the evacuation of civilians from settlements where hostilities are taking place.
